“The World’s only Wildlife city”
The Nairobi National Park is home to a diverse array of wildlife including lions, leopards, buffalos, zebra, antelopes, giraffe and over 400 species of birds. Game drives into the park can be arranged with a private vehicle and guide.
A short drive out of Nairobi’s central business district is the Nairobi National Park. Wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded. Visitors can enjoy the park’s picnic sites, three campsites and the walking trails for hikers.
The tour starts in the morning or at 2.00pm ,fabulous sanctuary is just a few kilometers from business centre but despite its proximity there are many species of cats that can be found including big five excluding elephant the tour returns to the city of Nairobi by sunset .The same excursion can plan in the morning for the groups. The park is home to large herds of zebra, Wildebeest, Buffalo, Giraffe and more. Rhino, Cheetah, and a large number of Lions are all found here, living wild within 20 minutes of the centre of town.
The park has acquired the nickname ‘Kifaru Ark’, a testament to its success as a rhinoceros (kifaru in Kiswahili) sanctuary. The park is home to the world’s densest concentration of black rhinos (more than 50), though even the park’s strong antipoaching measures couldn’t prevent poachers from killing one of the rhinos in August 2013 and then again in January 2014.
Best time to Visit the Park
Because Nairobi is at an elevation, year-round temperatures tend to be quite mild. The best time to plan your tour activities is during the dry months of July to October and also January and February.
